I sent my trouble in the darkness of nights

والدمعُ ترجم ما أُسِرُّ من الكَلِمْ

من ذا ألوذ به لكل مضائقي ...

And tears uncovered my hidden words

إن كنتُ في قعر المصائب والسقم

By whom would I be resorted to in all of my hardship

If I was in the depth of infirmity

ويزيل غما قد تعاظم واحتدمْ

من ذا يغيث الروح من دركاتها ...

Who would rescue the soul from its bottoms

And remove a heightened raged grief

O my Lord ! your slave had abused and oppressed

ناديت ربي والذنوب تحوطني ...

I called my Lord where my sins surrounded me

رباه عبدك قد أساء وقد ظلم

ورأيتُ برَّك شاملا كل الورى ...

أخفيتَ جرمي قد سترتَ معايبي ...

You have sheltered my misdeed and covered my faults

And shown patience and forgiveness generously

وحلمت يامن قد تجاوز بالكرمْ

I had seen your kindness embracing all creatures

لكنك الرب الرحيم لمن قَدِمْ

فطمعت في عفو المهيمن والنعمْ

Which made me desire for forgiveness and blessings of the Guardian

وخجلت من عمل القبائح ديمةً ...

حاشاك ربي أن تخيب سائلا ...

I was shamed of committing sins continuously

But it is you the Merciful Lord for repented ones

I came with heart submission devoutly

إني أتيت بذل قلبٍ خاشعٍ ...

وطرقت بابك قد كُسرتُ من الألم

واجعله ينجو من عذابٍ مضطرمْ

And knocked your door when I had been broken by suffering

Not you my Lord who would let down a worshipper

Who hoped for great forgiveness and regretted

إذ أمّل الصفح الجزيل وقد ندِم

لا تهلك العبد الظلوم وإن هفى ...

And you make him escape from a painful torment

Don’t punish the wrongful slave even if he made mistakes
